As mentioned in my previous blog, I've only heard Pismo Beach as a reference in a Bugs Bunny cartoon ("Ali Baba Bunny")...
Blink or you'll miss it! The horrid and garish Madonna Inn!

Caveman Room anyone? How about the Romance Room or the un PC-named Oriental Fantasy (that sounds like a porno title)?

No? Let's move on then. Aaaaand we're here!

Looks like the Car Show was going on that weekend...

Whenever we travel, I always like checking out local Filipino stores. This place, De Bu of Pismo Beach happens to be the ONLY ONE in the Central Coast.

It's super small and like most typical Filipino mom 'n pop ethnic markets, a hodge podge of a variety of Filipino items.

Panko Crumbs at the far left, tapioca balls (sago) in the box and underneath, different types of instant noodles and oooh! Powdered purple yam (ube) powder!

There were tons of canned and jarred food items (coconut milk, ingredients for halo halo, tropical fruits). They even had those My Shaldan air fresheners that you see at the Asian stores. They also had snacks and candy galore.

There's even a Santo Nino figurine atop the personal hygiene items. Do you see him? We bought a few kinds of snacks and chit chatted with the owner. She recommended that we check out the Car Show and gave us a couple of business cards for two Filipino restaurants down south (not in Pismo) that I'd already planned to check out.

Of course, we had to see these! The Giant Clams of Pismo Beach! That post is forthcoming...

Our snacks: Fried pork rinds, turrones de mani (peanut rolls), and Lobzter crackers (yes, with a 'z'). The Mama Sita's flavor packet was for Guava Sinigang for a future cold weather day meal.

Here are those cards she gave us...

Time for some chowder dudes...
