We parked in the C-Level/Island Prime parking lot...
where we saw Chef Deborah Scott's "Chop Suey" food truck. The truck wasn't open for business though.

After spending no less than ten minutes on Harbor Island, D got the call from her room mate to pick her up at Lindbergh, so off we went. The photo below was taken as we were exiting Grape Street northbound on ramp to the 5-South. The mural depicts Little Italy, the canneries, and the fishing industry.

While dropping off D's room mate, we were marveling at how well organized their garage was. Everything was neatly arrange in clear storage boxes. I spied this Jollibee toy and asked to look at it. D said it was a gift from one of her former students.

TORC had to head home after all this. Being a new mom and all, I'm sure she didn't want to be away from her baby for too long. Baby TORC is now three months old! So, that left me, KD and D to our own devices. We went to the local Michael's to help KD use her 40% coupons to buy yarn. KD stands for the Knitting Diva and she was preparing to make scarves, beanies, and afghan blankets for the holiday season. While in line at Michaels, I saw this candy, "Boogers".

Would you even eat this? I know my daughter would. Anything gross or pertaining to bodily functions is funny to her. Even the fake cockroach candy she bought at the wizard store in LA (Whimsic Alley) didn't phase her. Let's see, nice flavors here - Lemon Loogy anyone? How about Snottermelon? The drawing reminds me of those spoof stickers kids used to buy from the ice cream man. Wacky Packages or something like that.

There's such a long stretch between our birthdays. A few more months, then we will be off to celebrate KD's bday...
This tradition has lasted about 13 years now. Our first outing was at a Persian restaurant in Mira Mesa (KD's choice). I had never eaten flat bread with butter and a cut up onion before. Through the years, our tastes have changed and grown. Some restaurants we've been to include: Peohe's, Pizza Nova, Pho Ca Dao, the now defunct Absolutely Fabulous Desserts place in Kensington, Vagabond, the now closed Gulf Coast Grill. Too many places to name. It's been a fun ride as our tastes have evolved and our priorities have shifted.
More posts to come!

Why yes I would eat candy called Boogers. The only candies I won't eat (again) are the Harry Potter Jelly Belly flavored ones. Those are really gross.
hee hee! boogers!
my daughter loves those gross Harry Poter/Bernie Botts All Flavor beans! the onion one is so rank and disgusting. the only thing to top that would be if they made a durian flavor.
surprisingly enough, the sausage one isn't so bad.
