IScream and Solano Avenue

Now last time we were in Berkeley (Fall 2010), we took a wrong turn trying to go up Marin, which is this steep ass street that leads into Tilden Park. Our wrong turn led us to Solano drive which had a lot of cute shops and restaurants. Like our last trip, we went to several ice cream places. We'd already gone to PollyAnn's. This was our 2nd ice cream stop this trip - this time to iScream!

Some stickers I saw on the back of a traffic sign...

iScream! was pretty small and sparse inside...

They had just opened last Fall so they are still fairly new...

Flavors offered that day:

Cups, cones, waffles or sundaes...

I had the Blueberry, TC had Coconut Lemon and Bert had the Coffee 'n Cookies. His was a great choices. Cookies and Cream flavor seems so boring! I liked the waffle wedges in our cups. Our ice cream was fantastic, especially mine. The blueberry flavor was quite intense and the color was so attractive.

The girl working the counter gave us a frequent buyer card (she didn't know that we were out of towners). Hey, we might go here again next time right?

View from our stools...

Seems like $3 a scoop is the average price for these artisanal/boujie ice cream places. reember the days of .25 a scoop at Thrifty's?

A few doors down from iScream! was Pegasus Books where TC bought a copy of "The Hunger Games" (a book I'm aware of but haven't read).

I liked this street's mix of eclectic shops and eateries...

Even though the book selection was tiny compared to Borders or Barnes and Nobles, I tend to gravitate towards smaller mom and pop bookshops.

We had a pretty long day and wanted to get back to the hotel to relax a little bit. Actually Bert and TC relaxed and played around in the hotel pool while I researched dinner options online...

Up next, Indonesian food...
