Funny how this is named San Ysidro since there are outlets in the San Ysidro down here. But I digress. We were in Gilroy, the Garlic Capitol of the World. We figured we'd check out at least one shop that specialized in garlic products.
Behold, the Garlic Shoppe - notice the accent over the "e", so I suppose that should be pronounced "shop-pay"? WTF. Can I pronounce "Ass Wipe" as "Ass Wee-Pay" if I put an accent over the "e"?

The original Garlic Shoppe's address wasn't updated on our GPS so we wandered into a nearly empty wing of the outlet and found it there by chance.

The owner was just chit chatting with a cowboy friend of his. He liked Bert's t-shirt (which had some Filipino logo on it) and said his best friend growing up was Filipino. He even had the accent down right. Anyhow, the guy was pretty friendly and I asked him for recommendations where to eat in Gilroy. I specifically requested a place that locals went to and not tourists. He mentioned a Spanish tapas place down the main drag (forgot the name). Then he also mentioned a diner within a bowling alley that had pretty good food.

Here's the stuff we picked up from the "Shop-Pay" for ourselves and as gifts. A few garlic powder mixes, hot sauce, and steak sauce...

By this time, the sun was out in full force and it was 90+ degrees.
Our next stop, lunch at the Gilroy Bowl.
