Cream Pan

So after the bread fest that was 85C Bakery, we went to another place for more of the same...
More of...you got it....bread!
I read about Cream Pan on Elmo's blog, Monster Munching. For places to go and eat in the OC, his blog is what I usually look up. Cream Pan is in Tustin, a city that we normally don't think twice about except that they have an Ikea there. Other than than, this was our first visit to Tustin.  Unlike 85C there were no long lines at Cream Pan, although they also have their rabid own following, especially for their strawberry croissandts.

The bakery even had vegetables growing out front (this was on the side) - rosemary and squash. On the other end they had tomatoes, eggplants, and basil.

Thankfully there was not a huge crazy crowd. Just a few customers making their choices. I'd hate to be in here when it's packed though because it's quite small in here.

Lots of delicious choices like this strawberry and banana pastry. They also had an azuki bean pastry that sounded tempting but we ended up getting other items instead (kicks self with regret).

We picked up one of the pear tarts...I'm such a sucker for tarts, especially pear with or without frangipane. This one did not have the frangipane though but it was still delicious.

We also picked up a few of the hot dogs for the kids (TC and her cousins)...Okay, one was for us too!

The girls working here were really nice and patient. The gal on the right had some major fake lashes going on...She was like a cute anime character come to life.

Near the register was a basket of chicken curry bread. We ended up getting one  and had it the next day. The bread was still soft but I felt the filling was a bit sparse. There wasn't a lot of chicken in there.

Now this is what makes others lust and salivate over Cream Pan, the Strawberry Croissants. Although we did not get them fresh, we got the packaged half dozen, intending to share it for breakfast with the in-laws the next day...We got one on the side for us though. Believe me when I tell you that they were super flaky, light, creamy, and sweet! I would eat this without the strawberries!

We picked up one of these as well - nice sugary topping on the bread.

Our hot dog things, a ham and cheese croissant (so good!) and pear tart.

Who else ate at Cream Pan?

OC Blogger Elmo went here back in May 2009, including recently posted on their Korokke Pan, along with Foodie in Disguise.

Enough carbs for ya?  Time to head back to Aliso Viejo where my SIL had plans to spend the afternoon going antiquing in San Clemente while our husbands took out the kids...
