to get to a part of San Diego known as Middletown...
The newest location of James Coffee is in this part of town, which runs parallel to the PCH and is next to motorcycle shop, a crossfit gym and yes, an "adult emporium". They opened a few weeks ago and I knew I wanted to go here to compare it to their other locations (Little Italy, Bankers Hill). By the way parking SUCKS around here. We got lucky finding a spot several blocks away.

Their menu is the same as their other locations. Simple and concise. They have their roastery in the back and seating in the front room and on the sidewalk.

My cortado (one of two drinks served in actual glasses; the other is the espresso) and Bert's mocha with almond milk.

This one looked very "light" and I didn't quite like the roast used for this. I've had better like the version I had a few years ago at their Little Italy location on Valentine's Day. Bert's mocha was very smooth; they use chocolate from Parliament in Redlands, which gives it a rich taste.
Next door was San Diego Customs and a whole row of motorcycles, some with cool paint jobs.

Down the street is a parking lot where all of the San Diego trolley tour vehicles are along with the Seal Harbor tours boats. As we were admiring the bikes, this specialized tour trolley trundled past us.

The day was shaping out to be quite lovely with clear skies and slightly warming weather.

It was time to walk off some of our calories and do some retail therapy in nearby Fashion Valley...
