having been there the previous year...
The big difference was that it was just us two since TC was away at arts camp, an opportunity she did not want to pass up prior to her senior year. Throughout our trip, I couldn't stop thinking about her...wondering what she was doing, if she would have enjoyed a particular stop or eatery or scenic view point.
We passed by the Spot, an old school burger joint we visited during our Summer 2016 road trip..

No burgers or fries for us today.
We had parked on Linden, one of the main streets, to kill time. There was a trail near the state beach.

Above, a replica of a 'tomol', a type of plank boat used by the native Chumash tribe.

A boardwalk was being worked on near the beach. It was odd seeing a tractor on the beach as well. As you can see, the weather was picture perfect. It was not overly hot either. Best of all, it wasn't crowded. I think it was because the summer high season really hadn't started yet.

Commemorative bricks on the sidewalk near the beach...

Sign seen at Beach Liquor Store (that IS the name folks).

Plus more factoids and local events posted on various spots on Linden St.

Mural at a local Mexican restauraunt...

We'd visited this Mexican bakery before...

as well as Robitaille's candy store...

We would end up getting a few boxes of those famous inaugural mints later. Bert picked up a small bag of these chocolate covered rum cordials.

Cute retro look t-shirt at a local antique store plus cool vintage cookbooks...
