ranging from places to eat, visit and shop. She chose to focus on thrift stores...
We had actually visited this same place six years ago (post linked at the end) but I don't remember The Village Merchants being this big before. There is so much to see inside. There is even an upstairs level.

So many knick knacks. I was really afraid of turning around, bumping into something and breaking it.

TC ended up buying a cute denim summer dress for $7 and printed pajama bottoms for $5. The prices seemed fair (unlike a few places we would later encounter during our trip). Bert and I had fun looking around as well.
Our original dinner destination last night was nixed because we felt guilty (it was a Friday and we had meat for breakfast) so we postponed it until today.
While heading to the NE area, we passed by the gold Joan of Arc statue. This is in the historic Laurelhurst neighborhood...

At some point we also passed by the ornate Hollywood Theatre, the very same theater that took over ownership of the former Mike's Movie Madness. The architectural style is "Byzantine" but has also been described as "Spanish Colonial Revival", which is a style you see in many buildings in our very own Balboa Park. The Hollywood neighborhood is the only one in Portland named after a theater. Usually, it's the other way around.
