ahead of time in fact, making sure we parked in the structure closest to the meeting place...
There was a diverse group of about fifty other folks, students and their parents. Only three or four from San Diego. Many folks were from Northern and Southern California with only a few who had traveled from out of state. One of the San Diego folks had on a Tiger! Tiger! t-shirt.

TC may be a Gator one day...Either this or an Aztec!

The tour guide needed a microphone in my opinion. He presented valuable information about the admissions process but had to fight over noise from nearby construction. One of his colleagues took over after his presentation to do an actual walking tour around the campus. She was just as informative as our first guide but more animated. It was nice to learn more about the campus as we followed her around.

Before leaving we visited the bookstore so we could by a few t-shirts (one for me and one for TC).
I was in contact with my cousin (who lives in the Sunset District) and our plans were to meet up for lunch. She had a Korean place in mind on Irving St.
We parked several blocks away on an untimed spot...

I liked this purple house (houses a psychic service)!

Crappily, the Korean place, Manna, was full and had a long waiting list...so we walked eastward on Irving until we found a place that seemed interesting.

With my cousin was her oldest daughter (she has two) who was home for a few weeks before leaving again for the summer. Normally, she is traveling the world as a professional snow boarder. A small diner that my niece suggested also had a long line.
Across the street where Irving Street Cafe used to be (stories linked at the end of this post) was a Hot Dog place that my cousin was curious about. Oh, I forgot to mention that while we were scoping out other lunch places, Bert was still at Manna holding our spot in line. I had to text him to meet us here and to cross our names off the list at Manna.

This visit was back in March...Come July, this hot dog place was already CLOSED! The owner of this place also had one in San Mateo (also CLOSED now) and another in the works for Japantown but that never came to fruition since I couldn't find any yelp reviews of it.
So here are some photos while this place was still alive.
The prep area where your custom hot dog bowls are prepared with different toppings, etc...

Bert had his hown. TC and I shared a bowl and my cousin and my niece shared one as well.

The "Una" bowl - Bacon mushroom sausage with spicy mango, unagi sauce, cucumbers, corn, carrots and tomato with furikake and back sesame seeds.

The "Kani" - Beef sausage with crab meat over rice, spicy mayo, unagi sauce, carrots and corn with furikake and black sesame seeds.

One of the bowls was a repeat but served over salad.

We also shared some "shake" fries - there was hardly any shaken seasoning on this. It was supposed to be seaweed/furikake but as you can see, looked pretty plain. Weak.

The hot dogs here were supposed to be "organic" and "gourmet" or whatever. My cousin hardly eats meat so I was surprised she wanted to go here, but we were hungry!
So sometime earlier this summer, I get a text from my cousin..."Hey, where's that hot dog place again? I'm here right now and I can't seem to find it"... She said she was walking near where she thought it was but couldn't find the sign. A quick look on yelp showed that they were closed as in FOREVER. They sure didn't last long! I had to tell her to find another place to eat since Takuya no longer existed. :(

NOW CLOSED:
Hot Dog Bowl (formerly the Irving Street Cafe ---see my old post here!)
716 Irving St.
San Francisco, CA 94122
Update - This place is now Poke Origin (surprise, surprise...poke is everywhere)
**Irving Cafe closed in 2015, then briefly became 'Quickly', a chain boba place which didn't last long. The space reopened under the former name but then closed again, wth.
Their website is still up www.takuyadog.com + reviews from you know where (last review was circa June 2017; first reviews were from February! What! Only 4 months?)
Dessert would be down the street!
