Breakfast & Coffee @ Subterranean + Holsem

A few months ago we went out for breakfast...

where we parked around the corner on Gunn St., near the cafe...

Like the fake owl on top of Subterranean?  I'm sure it doesn't fool any of the birds, ha ha.

Coupon time. Buy one get one item free, so we utilized it for food instead of drinks.

Our light breakfast (shared by three):

TC's eggs, tomatoes, avocado and soyrizo (not a fan of that) plus our ham, cheese and jalapeno croissant sandwich.  I didn't realize they would put in practically a whole can of peppers! I ended up taking them out, ugh.

I didn't like how the cheese looked all clumpy. Asides from that textural detail, the sandwich was all right but would have been nicer with an actual slice of cheese instead of shredded. The sauce for the sandwich was a slightly spicy marinara.  TC's was a mild salsa and sour cream.

Too many peppers!

It was pride month, hence the sign advertising the current exhibit at the gallery next door.

A block away was Holsem Coffee, which I hadn't been to in awhile.  We noticed that the huge wooden menu board, formerly located on the right as you walk in, was now gone. Near the front counter was this instead. One of the workers said it was because it was too difficult to make menu changes on the board and having it on paper was easier and didn't take up as much space.

We kept it simple. Banana cold brew for me (using hazelnut milk)

Elderflower ginger vanilla bean iced tea for TC.

The floral iced tea was really refreshing. You can even see the vanilla bean seeds in there! The ginger gave it a tiny bit of a kick.

No lactose!

Half melted shredded cheese sucks. Jalapenos should be eaten in moderation (at least for me). Elderflower doesn't taste so bad either!

I saw this video using elderflower cordial and mixing it with jasmine tea and cranberry juice. Looks easy and sounds like a refreshing drink!

Summer was in full swing and it was getting warm even though it was only 10 am. It was time to head home, TC had her chores while we had ours (ha ha)...
