Fresh from our foray into the forest at Redwood Regional Park...
we headed into the Temescal neighborhood in Oakland for lunch...
Bowl'd was where we were supposed to eat the night before with Thane and his family but ended up doing takeout instead. Bowl'd is a chain here and this was the Oakland location.
That sticker is so true nowadays. Sad.

Around the corner was our lunch destination...
It's a Korean owned eatery featuring customizable Korean bowls...
So much to choose from.
My refreshing citron drink plus ice cold waters...
TC's lunch special bento was like food overload - beef bulgogi and chapchae which came with kichee, vegetables, rice, a potsticker and dressed salad. We helped her finish this, ha ha.
We also ordered a bowl of chapchae which we enjoyed as well. I noticed they put kale in this; normally it's spinach.
These were the bacon roll appetizer, which were mini logs of furikake'd rice wrapped in bacon adn FRIED.
Let's just say I wished we ate more of this! I loved the crunchy exterior and the salty bacon wrapped around it. Having the rice seasoned added another layer of flavor.
We had another dish that we were told would take more time because they fried it to order..
So what's missing from this fried chicken? This was supposed to be their signature Korean chicken wings. The batter was nice enough, crispy and crunchy, but...plain.
Turns out the damn sauce was not even on this, that's what!
I pointed it out to the server and he gave a, shall I say, weak response. Not really apologizing or offering to comp it. I think he gave us the sauce on the side, but we were already halfway done with the chicken by the time we realized it wasn't spicy. This was the only downside to our lunch.
