Noodles & Company. I totally made the same mistake twice...
by trying the same thing I had last year for my birthday and it was just as blech as before. Overly salty udon noodles. Hardly any vegetables. Plus the noodles were burnt. It was pretty inedible.

At least TC liked her macaroni and cheese bowl. My noodles sucked and I won't make the same mistake again.

We were still in Point Loma and the Cravory cookie place was just a few minutes away. There was a freebie deal if you "checked in" on yelp. Bert was gracious enough to let me 'unlock' the offer and so, yes, I was able to snag the deal.

So many choices, but I could only get two. TWO FOR ONE! $2.00. I thought I would get the Salted caramel cream. Instead, I got the Banana Butter cookie and TC chose the Cookies 'n Cream Milkshake.

The cookie shoot at home...

We loved the banana butter. There were some brickle pieces on top and nuts inside.

The cookies and cream milkshake was also pretty good. TC made a good choice there.

I loved the texture and taste of this cookie...

I'm glad this place is far from me otherwise, I'd be there...A LOT. It would be an expensive habit and I really don't want to throw down $2 for each cookie...Yikes.
Point Loma is near OB and that was our next stop. I had a printed coupon for the Sunshine Smoothy Company. It's one the corner of Bacon St. and W. Point Loma Blvd. It has a small parking lot, is a small place and has a shaded patio with seating.

The guy working here told me the coupon was "old" and that they haven't been using them for two or three years. However, he said he would accept the coupon "this time". Should I be grateful then? Anyhow, it seems that those coupon books have businesses in there that sometimes are no longer in business or if they are, may not accept the coupon any longer. If that's the case, they should really contact the publisher to remove their coupon from the books.
The deal was buy one get one with the stipulation that it had to be a 12 oz. size cup. I order thePurple Power and the Peachy Paradise. One of them cost more because that flavor was only available in a larger cup.

Both blended fruit smoothies were so delicious and fresh tasting.

So Mary, if you're reading this, beware that this coupon may not be accepted. I probably got lucky that day. Kudos to the guy for not being a dick and allowing me to use it. Points to him for at least making a sale.
Later that evening. TC had a night event with her youth group so Bert and I went to Boll Weevil in Southland Plaza (in San Diego and not quite IB).

I thought this was disgusting. Who the FK would eat this?

This late afternoon, we chose to eat in the other half of the restaurant. The other side has booths, TV's and the bar. This just has tables and TV's AAAAND unfortunately for us, was the preferred spot, it seemed for families with crying brats. Not for a pleasant dinner experience, eh.

I love their condiments tray here, especially the pickles and peppers.

Bert had the pulled pork sandwich (not a burger) while I had the burger with bacon, avocado, and jalapeno cheese. He thought it was pretty good and that it wasn't overly messy like other pulled pork sandwiches he's had. The portion was just right.

The burger patty was so juicy. Made even better with bacon.

I ended up deconstructing it and eating the filling and only the crispy bread edges.

It was easier to eat with my knife and fork instead of picking it up and chomping on it like an animal. Still love the burgers here. Asides from the screaming and crying kids and their hapless parents who lack a disciplinary hand, the food was still as good as I remembered it to be.

Pretty much every place we visited today, I used a coupon with the exception of the Cravory in which I used Bert's yelp privilege to "unlock" the buy one get one free offer. I have no shame, ha ha. It's like a challenge for me to use coupon daily during the break. However, this is the last Noodles post you'll see from me. I don't care if it's a birthday freebie, I won't be using it.

"My" Boll Weevil has had a special going every Wednesday for more than a year now- the 1/2 lb burger for (now) $4.99 (it had been $3.99 for most of the year)...I love the condiment tray there; no need to get any sort of custom burger. You'd think a noodle place would be making a profit on the noodle part, so at least they could load up no the veggies.
Great deal at your BW! I am so done with this Noodles place.
I skipped Noodles & Co's freebie last year, too. It's not really close to me and I don't think it's that awesome. Their menu is kind of all of the place in flavors and I think it makes it harder to make their dishes taste better. Oh well. I haven't been to Boll Weevil since I was a kid!
I actually used it a few days ago, but not for me. I got TC her favorite Mac n cheese and they even added chicken with it.
