Return to Ra Ka De Ka and tortas from Tropical Fruit Paradise

During the break, TC and I went to one her favorite Thai fast food places...

which was also near a few other places I wanted to hit up that day...

We'd already gone to Donut Panic (pre-destroyed front facade) and Cuppa Cuppa...and since I had a coupon for this place...we made our way to the neighborhood of Grantville.

Our entrees which we shared, Pad Thai with Shrimp and vegetarian spring rolls. The shrimp was plentiful, about ten pieces! I liked the sauce here as well. Yeah, it's probably not authentic but it wasn't an unnatural orange color like at some places we've been that sucked. The spring rolls were cut crosswise, making them easier to eat. TC liked the sauce except for the chili spiked portion of the peanut sauce which I had to spoon out.

Our next stop was not even a minute away, on Friar's Road, Tropical Fruit Paradise. Like at Rakadeka, I had a buy one get one coupon to use. I was curious about the Cubana sandwich for e and Bert since it had all kinds of meat in it. When I presented the coupon, the lady working there said the coupon "was good for everything except the Cubana". WTF. There weren't any restrictions stated on the coupon so that kind of sucked. I didn't feel like arguing and because two bloggers (listed at end of post) already tried it, I went with two other sandwiches instead.  Fracking frack.

Both were taken to go  Chilanga and Pachuquena. The Chilanga had milanesa (breaded and fried thin steak), chorizo, ham and jack cheese while the Pachuquena had milanesa, carnitas and Oaxaca cheese.

This was the Chilanga. Lots of layers!

The Pachuquena's carnitas were so tender and delicious! I think I liked this much better!

Mmmm, milanesa,,.avocado....the crust was perfect and the rest of the bread sturdy enough to handle the fillings.

Trying to get to the freeway on Mission Gorge Road sucked. It was the end of the lunch hour and of course, everyone and their mother was on the road. While at a stop, I glanced to my left and saw WestBean's signage. This is their roasting facility; they do not sell coffee drinks there.

Who else went to Ra Ka De Ka?
I found an older post by Cathy hailing from October 2008; I must have missed that one in my first visit post (where I linked Mary and Jake's visit).

Who else went to Tropical Fruit Paradise?
Cathy blogged about in January 2012 followed by Mary later that year in November

Previous visit to Ra Ka De Ka:
January 2014

There is no website but here are the reviews from you know where

We were going to call this a day. It was getting pretty hot and TC was tired and come to think of it, so was I. Time for a nap....

I'm pretty sure I already used that coupon, but weird they wouldn't let you use it for that one sandwich! I'm glad you enjoyed the sandwiches anyway. They are still my favorite tortas in town.

Yeah, wtf man. I think the chick didn't want people taking advantage because there are a lot of different meats, maybe? But still, it doesn't specify on the coupon. Dammit.
