It was time for a revisit...
to the Boll Weevil in Southland Plaza in South San Diego near I.B.

I liked the fresh condiments tray - pickled peppers, pickles, and thinly sliced red onions along with the usual suspects.

We shared a Chicken Caesar salad with dressing on the side. Last year we had the Buffalo Chicken Salad so we wanted something different. I loved the buttery grilled garlic bread that came with the salad; it was not only garlicky, but cheesy as well.

TC got a cheeseburger from the Kid's menu which she doctored up with pickles. Pretty standard.

We also got their onion rings. Loved the thick cuts but I prefer skinnier onion rings. The batter was also lovely and crunchy.

Instead of the Mushroom Swiss burger we had from last year, we shared the Avo-Bacon burger which we loved. The portion was just right. Our salad with the burger half plus the onion rings...There goes the diet!

The burger had a nice chargrilled flavor and it was cooked medium. Nice and juicy as well, made even better with the thick cut bacon and the creamy avocado.

It may not have a "pedigree" like the high-falutin' burgers at Smashburger, Stacked, Burger Lounge, and its ilk but sometimes you need to have something in-between and a few steps above McDonald's.
