Easter 2015

Aw, isn't this cute...

(The bag, a present from Cathy, as originally seen in my "More Food Gifts" post, February 4, 2014)

This year we stayed home and enjoyed the day....

Gone were my green Pez for St. Patrick's, which were replaced by the Easter themed Pez along with various Sanrio characters, like the bunny eared My Melody. I know that Hello Kitty isn't really Easter but I just had to include her.  From left to right - Bucktooth Chocolate Bunny with green stem (previous models had a pink stem; released prior to 2011), Easter Egg (one of 4 Easter egg Pez which were only available in gift tubes), yellow duckRubber Duckie, My Melody and of course, Hello Kitty..

Followed by another Mr. Bunny (yes, that is his real name) with centered pupils (some other models have the eyes looking to the side), duckling hatching from egg, Lamb (not sure how old this one is), duckie Easter egg, floppy eared bunny and Hello Kitty with  bunny on top of her head.

lastly, Mrs. Bunny (2004), Easter Lamb (2008), polka dotted Easter egg, vintage Easter bunny (early 90's), duck hatching from egg,snd the flower print Easter Egg...

Since I bought the egg shaped Pez in tubes because they weren't sold in a single plastic pack, I ended up giving the candy away to La Ley for her kids whom I also gave my Pez doubles (Yoda, Kermit the Frog, an Easter lamb and Darth Vader).  I think the candy tastes chalky anyways!

Our very late breakfast or more like brunch. Waffles, turkey sausage, corn, sauteed eggs with tomatoes and onions, and fruit. Bert is our waffle maker using the heart shaped waffle iron we got as a wedding gift nearly twenty years ago.

Later that afternoon, we colored our eggs using this $2 kit. The cups held the dye tables, vinegar and vegetable oil for the "marbled" effect which didn't really turn out quite like the depiction on the box.

We still had fun making these even though they weren't picture perfect.

TC actually polished the eggs with this little square cloth that came with the egg dye kit.

Bert put the eggs in a carton for safekeeping...

The night before TC made rainbow cupcakes and topped them with lavender (more like grayish) and mint green colored frosting and peeps. In the Peeps box, there are two rows which are all stuck together. To separate them, you have to pull them apart or for a nicer look, cut them with a knife. She didn't like how the sides were white because they had to be cut, but her cousins still enjoyed eating them. I like that they look forward to her cupcakes for every holiday party.

Hope everyone had a restful Easter weekend.

Bert did the hard work, making those waffles. I am not a waffle or pancake maker, haha. TC also did a bit doing most of the egg dyeing that day and making the cupcakes the night before! :)
