This place was chosen merely because of it's proximity to St. Honore Boulangerie as well as quasi-museum curio-shop (post will be forthcoming).

After all that climbing and balancing and ziplining in the freezing cold and rain, we were a bit brain dead and didn't really want to search high and low for a place to eat...
Wild Wasabe is in the NW section of Portland called the Alphabet District. For you Simpsons fans out there, you'll no doubt recognize some of the names such as Flanders, Lovejoy, and Quimby (as in "Ned", "Reverend" and "Mayor"). It also helps to know that Simpsons creator Matt Groenig is a Portland native.

It was quite empty when we arrived in the mid to late afternoon. Not quite the dinner hour I suppose. The decor was swanky and modern.

Sushi purists may blanch at their offerings, but we were hungry and are not sushi traditionalists anyways. I liked how the menu was "re-usable" with the lamination and the dry erase marker.

Our miso soup...

and our cucumber salad, lightly dressed in a rice vinegar dressing with sesame seeds. Refreshing and light. I needed to eat something remotely healthy today.

Curiously, the rice was purplish in hue, which I liked. I thought it looked quite fun, but one yelper (from the comments) found the color to be "off-putting"! I don't remember exactly what we ordered but it looks like Cali roll, soft shell crab and some sort of spicy roll.

I think Prince would like this rice.

Another type of spicy roll, which was lightly battered and fried.

We liked all of our rolls, although the spicy ones were a bit too much for TC to handle. This was not a big full on meal, mind you but rather, a small snack to get us through the latter part of the afternoon.

Just across the street was the French bakery we visited a few days ago for choquettes.

Oh yes, we would be going there again before heading back to our suite.
