A Bday lunch for MFH @ Que Huong

Hot off the press...

A chick's day out with Mi Firme Heina (MFH) to celebrate her (belated) birthday...

This will be a quick post since these dishes have appeared on the blog before. MFH let me order but didn't want the frog legs (this time). I made sure to choose a variety of dishes for us to share...

The Banana Blossom salad with Chicken (small order):

which comes with a big bowl of rice porridge.

A few of our other dishes...yes, it was just us two. We knew we'd be bringing home leftovers...

This was one of my favorites, the Caramel Prawns. This time it was served in a bowl. In the past, it was served on a big squarish platter. The bowl was nice because we could scoop up the delicious sauce with our spoons. The prawns were also huge. We enjoyed this dish so much!

The Bo Luc Lac (Shaking Beef) with watercress. The filet mignon pieces were  so tender and juicy.

Of course, I had to introduce MFH to their Chicken wings - this was a large order with half fish sauce and half tamarind since MFH loves tamarind anything. Of the two, I like the fish sauce wings much more. The tamarind is a bit too sweet for me.

As always, Jay was so gracious making sure everything was okay and coming out every so often from the kitchen to check up on us. He also comped us a salted lemonade drink, Chanh Muoi, which was a nice surprise. According to Jay, the preserved lemons were a gift from his mom. It was a refreshing drink on such a hot and humid day.

I wasn't sure if I'd like the lemonade, but I might order this again next time around!

MFH liked all of the dishes that I ordered. She'd had Vietnamese food before, but not these particular dishes. We were able to sample a bit of each dish and made sure to save some room for dessert.

About that lemonade,  Wandering Chopstick's Chanh Muoi recipe.

Here's last year's bday lunch where we went to Alforon...

Dessert was next on our agenda...as we headed west to O.B.
