Mariscos Sunday

Last weekend, we stopped by the good ole TJ Oyster bar for lunch...

Last weekend was one of the hottest on record and that day we wanted to have some cool and refreshing mariscos...

As mentioned in a previous post, they no longer do single fish tacos (which used to be .99). Fish and shrimp tacos are sold as a trio now ($4.50/fish and $8.00/shrimp).

We splurged on drinks today - Bert's beer (some light IPA), TC's horchata and my jamaica. Another reason we wanted drinks is because their water (or their ice cubes or maybe both) tastes GROSS! If you ever go here, bring your own water. Seriously!

TC's mixhed seafood cocktail (small size) which came with saltines and tostadas. It was filled with large shrimp, octopus, scallops, fish, and fake crab.

Bert's Shrimp Burrito with rice and Caesar Salad...

And here is what it looks like inside. Just look at the size of those shrimp! Very filling and tasty this was, according to Bert.

I had two varieties of shrimp filled tacos - 1) Shrimp Diablo and 2) Garlic Shrimp.

This was the Garlic shrimp with crema, cilantro and onions. Delicious!

The Shrimp Diablo was also a winner - it was filled with peppers, cheese, shrimp, and a spicy cream sauce!

If I had more room, I would have had another, but no. I was quite tempted to get the Pescadilla (the seafood filled quesadilla) but I've had that twice in a row already.

One of the servers came by and performed magic tricks with cards. He was really skilled with the sleight of hand (Bert debunked how he did the trick after he left), but I was still amazed at the tricks he showed us.  Wow, great food AND entertainment!

One of these days, I'll be brave enough to try the aguachile here!  Once again, I'm glad TJOB opened up a new location. Their old place is still open, but this new place is doing quite well. It's always busy whenever we visit and I hope they are able to keep it up!
