Veggin' out...

Eating healthier isn't so hard when you have a variety of fresh and exciting produce like this...

Mini heirloom tomatoes from Trader Joe's...

They wer eso sweet. I liked the yellow ones the best while TC preferred the red. She didn't like the reddish green ones because of their unusual color. I thought they looked quite cool. These tomatoes were enjoyed as a side with earlier meals this week...

This was the purple kale we got from the Suzie's Farm stand. I sauteed it in a little bit of olive oil, added some freshly ground black pepper and splashed a tiny bit of soy sauce in there and covered it with my wok lid. Delicious!

This was the romanesco, which was also from Suzie's Farm stand...

The head that I bought wasn't that big. I wasn't sure if we'd like it so I didn't want to buy a huge one and let it go to waste. Well, after this recipe, if I do get it again, I'll bite the bullet and get a bigger one. The roasted romanesco was so good. It came out quite fragrants and caramelized in some parts.

Cut the romanesco into florets, like you would a head of broccoli or cauliflower. Add a little bit of olive oil, add some freshly ground black pepper and sea salt and stick into the oven, at 400 F for 20 minutes or so.

We also had the farm vegetables with a few Spanish items - the Chistorra sausage and a cheese sampler from Trader Joe's. I liked two of the three cheese - Manchego and Iberico. The one I hated was the Cabr al Vino, which was the goat cheese. Smelled awful. I hate goat cheese so TC happily had my share.

Will have to try some of the other produce from the farm stand next time we're in the area, especially the golden beets...
