Two Stadiums - Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers

Being the sport fan that he is, Bert wanted to make sure he stopped by Cowboys Stadium before he left Texas...

Even though the Cowboys aren't his favorite team, it was still enough for him to pay a visit...

Located in nearby Arlington, Cowboys Stadium, is of course home to the NFL's Dallas Cowboys. Yes, the team with the skimpy cheerleader uniforms. This stadium is fairly new, having been completed in 2009. The Cowboys' former stadium used to be located in Irving but that was demolished years ago.

The dome is retractable, which makes sense with all the wild weather they have in Texas. You can watch your football game without fear of rain, hail, snow, or lightning messing things up for you. It seats 80,000 (whoa!), making it the 3rd largest football stadium by seating capacity.

It's also the largest domed stadium in the world with a mostly column free interior. Too bad he didn't get a chance to go inside to really see it, but then, he's already seen it watching televised Cowboys home games.

Statue of Thomas Wade Landry, former head Cowboys coach...

The seating chart:

Bert used the timer with the camera on his rental car:

Ooh, Roger Staubach, Hall of Famer, Heisman trophy winner, and former QB for the Cowboys. The stuff legends are made of for sports fanboys. His glory years were in the 70's. Of course, I'm looking at all this shit from wikipedia.

There were columns each devoted to former players. Here's Tom Landry again...

Also located in Arlington is Rangers Ballpark, home to the baseball team, the Texas Rangers.

After skimming the wikipedia article on this place, the few things I remembered were that the lack of a retractable roof for this venue was one of the main criticisms of this place. Another was it was one of the most hitter friendly ballparks because of it's short fences, and the the way it's laid out which tinkers with the wind, so balls that normally wouldn't be homers or "out of the park" are achieved here.

With his sports jones out of the way...it was time to head to the airport. But wait, there's one more stop!
