To start off, we met him in his hood for breakfast at one of his favorite spots in the SE quadrant of PDX.
You know your day is going to start off right with some of this...

Chicken Fried Bacon with apple caramel sauce. Don't question it.
Don't touch that griddle!

At this place, you can make your own pancakes...
We also enjoyed the beautiful scenery at the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, next to Reed College:

We also stopped by KDB's favorite video store, Movie Madness which is also home to Mike's Movie Memorabilia (Yes! You know I live for this $#%t%!)

Where else can you see THE KNIFE used in Psycho? Or the actual Maltese Falcon prop? Or the Frankenstein suit used by Peter Boyle in "Young Frankenstein"? If you want to "rent" a particularly rare video here, you might even have to put a down payment of up to $500! Wut?
Later on, we stopped by the Good Food Here Pod just down the street on 42nd and Belmont.

Followed by a quick jaunt to a place near Chinatown.

No, we didn't eat here. I just liked the sign! There's another Hung Far Low on SE 82nd but this sign is much more "prominent"!
No, we came here to get our quarters on at Ground Kontrol Arcade which also serves as a museum for old school/classic video games.

This took Bert and KDB back to their junior high days...
This foray also confirmed the fact that I truly suck at Centipede.
Don't you just love the primitive graphics in "Tempest"?
At my

I was bummed that they didn't have their Bone Marrow with Bing Cherries flavor and their Melon with Coppa, so I settled for something less adventurous. Damn seasonal flavors.
After dropping off KDB, we headed south to Milkwaukie to find Dark Horse Comics. Instead, we veered into Electric Castle's Wunderland. This time, to get our Nickels on!

Around the corner was a comic book shop where Bert bought a replacement for The Tick figurine, who was lost on Day 3.

The Sinestro keychain figurine was 30% of 5.99. Yay for no sales tax here in Oregon too!
Also in this same town (which is also where Bob's Red Mill and the Pendleton Woolen Mill factories are located) was this actual WWII B-17G bomber on one of the main drags.

The nose/cockpit is missing (supposedly being repaired). Lots of birds live in this thing too.
As a spoiled SoCal wimp, this rain takes some getting used to. In fact, I really don't enjoy being cold. But hey, I'm getting my money's worth out of my Timberland boots and my heavy jacket here.
This day we were supposed to drive out to Mt. Hood with KDB but he said the weather conditions in the mountains were pretty bad and didn't want to risk it so this is how we spent most of our day...

Hi CC! Looks like your trip is going well. So much happening! That chicken fried bacon looks so good...
I thought of you actually when we had this... :)
Having a great time despite the dreary and wet weather!
That's a rhododendron. Azaleas have smaller leaves.
Is the Pendleton Woolen Mills still there? It started outsourcing to Mexico back in the 90s. I thought it closed the Milwaukie plant completely, but I guess only the sewing got moved?
hi wc - thanx for the correction.
we passed by the woolen mills factory but am not sure if it's still open. i saw on the website that they are still offering tours so maybe they are still open.
OMG chicken fried bacon with apple caramel sauce!!!!!
hey, i think you should recreate that dish!
Okay, I would eat that bacon. Looks like a fun trip so far!
That chicken fried bacon was so good! I had to restrain myself from eating it all...
