Our original destination was a tea house but we weren't going to get tea there. Parking was a major pain so we parked many blocks away and walked it to where the tea shop was supposed to be, but along the way, we saw this shop first...
Chocolate?
Like the Millenium Falcon, we were inevitably pulled in by the Death Star-like tractor beam of this cute little shop...
It smelled so good in here...chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate!
There were fancifully flavored bars of chocolate along the walls...
and a display of their different gift box sizes...
In the back were racks and racks of handmade chocolate candies...
which were displayed in rows at the front counter. The lone worker there that morning was a really pretty young gal (she looked "hapa" or biracial)with a cute pixie cut. As soon as we entered, she greeted us and offered us a sample...
Of course we could not refuse, heh heh. The free sample was a peanut and butter jelly filled chocolate.
All of the chocolates were so pretty and very different from each other. They reminded me of the chocolates from Mignon in Pasadena and Dallman's in Del Mar.

Bert got a box of 6 for $12, making each piece $2 each, duh. However, if we didn't get the box, the single chocolates would have been $1.50 each (as seen on their sign several photos ago). So, the box was basically $3 if you counted each chocolate piece as $1.50. Dagnabbit. Foiled by the pretty packaging! But now we know, sigh.
This was our selection that we enjoyed several days later (no interior shots of the fillings):
Top row - Between the Sheets (lemon, brandy, rum and triple sec), Bahama Mama (key lime, coconut, pineapple and rum) and Blueberry Pancake (fresh blueberries with pancakes and a white chocolate filling). The first two were named after drinks. They also had the flavor "Sex on the Beach" which TC saw and was, uh, wondering about the weirdly named chocolates.
The bottom row included Maple Glazed Bacon, Root Beer float, and Cookies & Cream:
TC's picks were the blueberry pancakes and the cookies and cream; her favorite was the latter. Bert and I enjoyed the fruity drink flavored chocolates. We didn't care too much for the maple glazed bacon - now THAT was a very intense piece of chocolate. Very bacony it was. The root beer one didn't taste too much like root beer so Bert was a bit disappointed in that.
Overall, we still liked the flavors here and if we ever go again, we will be prepared and have our own container and not have to pay extra for the box! Seriously, we will!

During that whole afternoon, I had to make sure the box of chocolates wouldn't get messed up too much in my purse. I was afraid they would get smashed but they survived the trip and were savored a few days later...
Just a few doors down was one of my favorite bookstores which focuses on the Asian American experience, where I once got mistaken for a "professor" (of all things!)!
