We hadn't been here in a super long time, as in pre-blogging days!
Since it was Seafood Friday, we were looking forward to their offerings...
TC already knew what she wanted...
The lunch rush was in full swing (although the photo below doesn't show it since I took if after we were done with lunch), with almost every table full. There was a lot of ethnic diversity there, Asians, African Americans, Caucasians, Latinos, and representing the Filipino American contingent, us, ha ha.
The men working there were so very nice and attentive.
They were very friendly, especially to TC and were very cheerful when giving TC her smoothie.
We asked for the shrimp rolls without pork...
as well as the char grilled shrimp rolls. The first appetizer's peanut sauce was on the thin and watery side. The second sauce was different, more of a chili infused fish dipping sauce, which I liked.
TC's jackfruit smoothie with those gawdawful snotballs known as boba.
TC's bun with char grilled shrimp which had a generous portion of shrimp in there - about 8 or 9 pieces!
The bowl was on the smaller side but that's okay since she's just a teen and shouldn't be eating gluttonous sized portions anyways.
Since I already had one roll each of the appetizer, I just got the vegetarian fried spring rolls (saved 2/3 for Bert for later)...
I had a craving for eating something crunchy with cool lettuce leaves and herbs.
Mmm, plump and juicy skrimp!
While on our way home, we noticed these banners in City Heights' stretch of El Cajon Blvd known as Little Saigon.
I looked up Black April when I got home and found out that it is in reference to the Fall of Saigon. It is also the name of a book of the same name, "Black April - The Fall of South Vietnam 1973-1975" by George J. Veith.
According to wikipedia's entry on the "Fall of Saigon":
"The Fall of Saigon was the capture of Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam, by the People's Army of Vietname and the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam (also known as the Viet Cong) on April 30, 1975. The event marked the end of the Vietname War and the start of a transition period leading tot he formal reunification of Vietnam into a Socialist Republic governed by the Communist Party".

We enjoyed our lunch here but now it was time to head back and kick back at home. We were (and still are) both on Spring Break and planned to do a James Dean movie viewing later that day, starting with the classic "Rebel without a Cause".
