The road here has been widened and was one of the surprises we discovered while on our way home from our Spring Break trip earlier this year.

Our last stop was House Roots Coffee in Granada Hills...A few hours later, we were passing by downtown LA...

Tan Hoang Huong (THH)

Right next door to the Kolache Factory is Tan Hoang Huong (aka THH)...

which is obviously a Vietnamese eatery with a couple of other outposts in the OC...

Tustin Trio - Cream Pan, return to Tan Hoang Huong & Kolache Factory

This past weekend we made a short trip (which ended up being 12 hours including driving time) to LA...

Our first stop was Tustin...

But first, we had to pass the tits the decommissioned San Onofre power plant...

This weekend Cathy and I made the trip up to Pasadena..

during the wee hours of the morning and also during the same weekend as the Sand Fire in Santa Clarita. [Update: a week later, the fire burned over 39,000 acres and is 95% contained]

Hence, the long streaks of smoky clouds...As we got closer to Los Angeles, we could see the fire's effects even more...

when we left in the dead of the morning to beat the traffic and make it on time for THH's opening...

after our normal pee stop at the Starbucks off the Red Hill exit in Tustin...

We were not in a particular hurry...

Having left our home at an ungodly hour, we made it to the checkpoint around 6 am...

The sun hadn't even risen yet, but we had a long day ahead of us...

Dragon Express

TC and I were out and about earlier today doing errands.

We visited my friend La Ley to give her some tomatoes from our garden (beefsteak, roma and cherry!). For lunch, I thought we would try a restaurant she and her sister likes...

It is called Dragon Express on E Street, next to a very groovy looking grocery store (Foodland). The strip mall is a bit on the weathered side but looks are not everything for us...

This particular day, I was out and about, I thought I would try the sandwich shop next to Thuan Phat...

Egg Banh Mi sandwiches from Cali Baguette & Van Hoa

Yesterday while doing errands solo, I stopped by Cali Baguette before heading home.

I saw that their red jeep was there (look at their license plate and the words on the side)...

These dolphin statues were, thankfully, not being played with by unruly children...this time.

I just find it amusing that this is  right in the middle of the restaurant.  Since it was just me...

I'd been waiting to take another mini road trip and since we had a three day weekend for Veterans Day...well, off we went. Our first stop was off of Red Hill Ave in Tustin. Coffee and pee break. Yes, TMI.

I picked up the latest post-election issue of the OC Weekly, depicting Pepe the Frog as Trump.

We would see more anti-Trump imagery via graffiti and street art in DTLA...
