Mini Roadtrip first stops - Cream Pan and THH

Having left our home at an ungodly hour, we made it to the checkpoint around 6 am...

The sun hadn't even risen yet, but we had a long day ahead of us...

We had places to visit (some new and some old) but first...our mandatory stop in Tustin.

Which could only mean Cream Pan. Since it was Friday, I bought a salmon onigiri for TC to enjoy later along with her favorite melon pan bread.

Our pastries for later - almond croissant and pecan roll for Bert (diagonal), a chocolate croissant and blueberry cream cheese for me. We ended up sharing later anyways.

Their pastries are always excellent. I spent no longer than give minutes in there. No line like a couple of years ago when everyone and their mother was in there buying their famous strawberry croissants since it was Valentine's weekend.

Our second favorite stop in Tustin is over at Tan Hoang Huong Sandwiches & Coffee. This was TC's breakfast (shared with Bert), the shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce, keeping in mind that this was also a Seafood Friday.

While not seafood and not technically meat, I had my first fried egg banh mi, which I really liked. The eggs were fried over hard which is one of my favorite preparations.

I took out those jalapeno slices though. Look at that crackly crusty bread!

I want to try this sandwich now at the other VN places in San Diego to compare. This was perfect for breakfast, shared with Bert and TC.

Previous visit to Cream Pan and THH:
November 2015

Stop one was done. Our next stop would be over in Highland Park while en route to our eventual destination, Pasadena...
