The word "chocolat" caught our attention, so of course we had to stop in...
Any excuse for dessert enjoyed in a cool air conditioned environment was welcome to get out of the heat! It was like walking in an oven out there!

This place just wasn't a dessert shop, but also sold sandwiches, salads, and soups. The waiters had these funky floppy hats and were super nice. The waitstaff were also bilingual in both French and English. A must in this multicultural and international city.

After we were seated, we got up to admire the assorted desserts in the cold cases. These little jarred desserts were so adorable and beckoning us...

We placed our orders for dessert and drinks...

This may have been C's dessert. I think this may have been the Fleur de sel caramel petit pot.

Both TC and LO ordered the same thing - the Raspberry sorbet which was garnished with a tuile praline. Very nice!

Both FJ and I ordered the same dessert, the Passionfruit petit pot which had layers of passionfruit and dark chocolate mousse, cocoa ganache and passionfruit coulis.

This was Bert's Hazelnut Praline petit pot...

Plus Bert's mocha frappe...

We loved the layers of sweetness in the jars...

This was one of the best desserts we had that trip!

It was quite relaxing in the shop and we all enjoyed our desserts and cool drinks.
Somewhere along the same street, we saw the Excentris Theatre, one of the few in Canada that was actually playing Torontian film maker David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis" that summer. The film would later premiere in mid-August in New York and Los Angeles. Bert and I made a special trip up to LA last summer to watch it.

Despite the esoteric and talky nature of the film, I thought it was a great showcase for Rob Pattinson to break out of the "Twilight" mold and into something more mature and arty. C and I originally made plans to watch the movie, but the show times didn't really mesh with our short time in Montreal.
Here is the American trailer which was a bit misleading because it made the movie seem more "action packed" than it really was. They showed every character in the damn movie too. The international trailer was not as "spoon fed" and featured nekkidness (woo!).
Of course, what I liked best was that Rob was in EVERY scene sporting that suave Gucci suit. I can't wait for his newer films to come out such as David Michod's (of "Animal Kingdom" fame) "The Rover" with Guy Pearce, Cronenberg's "Maps to the Stars" (with John Cusack, Mia Wasikowski, and Cronenberg muse Sarah Gadon), and playing Army interrogator Eric Maddox in "Mission Blacklist" (he was the one who pinpointed Saddam Hussein's location and subsequent capture). Hey, I'm just a little Robsessed, ha ha. Only I can manage to fit in a Rob mention in a Montreal dessert post!

I missed reading this-three times. SO glad I looked one more time. Could you keep the jars? The idea of dessert made then stored and chilled in a jar is unique...no weird refrigerator odor. Then the sorbet...nice find.
no, the jars were not to be kept. :(
i've had desserts in jars at a few places in san diego. same idea, pot du creme kind of desserts.
i like the presentation. very tidy and you can see the layers too.
tc and my friend's daughters had sorbet any time they could get it. very refreshing on that hot day!
