Snacks 'n candy

Hey now...

I thought this sticker was pretty funny and cool, but what's even cooler is sampling new snacks...

Last month, I had lunch at Wich Addiction with Mary and Faye. Freshly back from her Taiwan trip, Faye was kind enough to gift both of us with an assortment of crazy snacks and candies.

Mary made these delicious no bake cookies (see her recipe post, "No Bake Cookie Bliss"). They were sweet and didn't last long at our house!

Back to those Taiwanese snacks and candies though!  This was an assortment of sour fruit flavored candies. Faye thought that TC would like these and she was right! In fact, these are pretty much gone now!

Another item was this milk chocolate candybar.

and these cute little dark chocolate squares. They remind me of the Japanese candy, "Melty Kiss". I really liked these!

Faye thought these might be fun to try. From the picture on the package, I'm guessing that these were chicken wing flavor?

The chips actually had a curry taste to them. I couldn't really tell they were chicken.

Gotta love their packaging!

Wait, I guess curry wasn't in there afterall. The spice mix in here was pretty eclectic, not unlike any other chip I've had before. Cabbage powder?  Allspice and white pepper?

This next bag had these crinkled looking chips, labeled as BBQ flavor. However, they didn't really taste like what I would think BBQ would taste like, at least American style BBQ.

Now this hasn't been opened yet. TC liked the drawings. This is a grape candy.

Thanks again Faye for the wonderful snacks!

Last month Bert finally got to check out Zion. During that shopping trip, I bought this six-pack of dark chocolate Ghana choco pies.

I really like these, even better than the Choco Pie (Lotte or Orion! For a cool showdown post, check out Carol's "Choco Pie Fever")

These were the snacks that Bert picked out. The Lotte Pepero's are wanna-be Pockies. The Meiji Lucky sticks were Japanese. One of the brands (I forgot which one) was on sale, two for $1.00. That brand ended up tasting dry and horrible. I think it was the Lucky sticks. The Pepero sticks were much better.

That same day, we also stopped by Mitsuwa where I bought this loaf of bread so TC and I could try making our own brick toast. The slices weren't as thick as we wanted for the toaste, but I bought it anyways. Sorry, no photos of our attempts at brick toast, but I did put honey and butter on them!

Recently, I had lunch with Kirbie at Salt & Cleaver (that post is coming up) and she was also quite generous with these food gifts!

She gave me four packs of Shirly J. Mugging! instant mug cake mixes (walnut bread, no pan pancake, chocolate brownie cake and quiche in a cup), a bag of coconut chips (those were so good!), three strawberry Lindt truffles, one Sanpellegrino Blood Orange drink (TC has already claimed that one), and the most interesting item of all, the Chuao "Pop corn Pop" bar

When you bite into the chocolate bar, you can taste the milk chocolate, the sea salt, the crunchy cereal bits inside and the kicker was this....the sensation of "popping" in your mouth from pop rocks. Personally, I was creeped out by the feeling. It was as if something "alive" was in my head, like bugs or something. TC really really liked this chocolate bar and proclaimed it her favorite chocolate bar EVER. Gosh, so dramatic, haha. She's been eating it little by little and savoring it. Thanks again to Kirbie for such a delightful assortment of snacks and candies!  It's great to have food blogger friends, ha ha. But seriously, it is great!

"Hotel Bread"! I don't know why, but that cracks me up for some reason. Nice round up of snacky things!

Thanks Mary! I didn't even notice that it said "Hotel" on the bread. Ha ha. Engrish.
