Bugsy's Brew

Having enjoyed our takeout from Craft Kitchen at the oh-so-romantic location of the Sprouts La Mesa Parking lot...

we checked online to see what coffee places were nearby...

and by online I mean 'consulting Cathy'. She had a lot of good suggestions. She is a veritable treasure trove of information and has literally been and eaten everywhere in San Diego. This time, it was Bugsy's Brew.

Luckily, I also had an online coupon for Bugsy's...

Tonight happened to be an Acoustic Jam night where customers could play their instruments and sing for the customers. When we walked in, the place was packed and a man was singing Neil Young songs.  The clientele was very...East County.  I'm just saying. We were the only ethnic diversity there and probably the youngest folks as well.

Crappy shot I know.  Turns out that the online coupon was 'no longer being accepted'. The owner said that he stopped accepting them a few years ago and that the Entertainment Value book still has them listed. Like the man at Sunshine Smoothie in Oceanside, he said he would accept it still which was a nice gesture on his part.

Bert got the Mt.  Helix, which was espresso with hazelnut flavoring while I got an iced mocha.

Since there was no room to sit inside, we stood and watched the performers while we waited for our drinks. The owner, Dan was busy hustling back and forth. His other employee was a very nice young guy  who was also busy whipping up everyone's coffee order.

We took our cups to go and headed back home to pick up TC from her event...

And I can't end this post without a shot of this...

Haha....shouldn't it be called "Charbucks"?

Not a family friendly shirt for sure. That's the owner showing us how he really feels.

"Hey mommy, what's that word?", OMG. It reminds me of the time I was behind a truck with a dirty window. I was at a red light and TC, who was only five could see, written in the dust, "F--K You". She was actually trying to sound it out and I was secretly hoping the light would change soon. Real soon. I ended up distracting her so she wouldn't pronounce it.  Now that she's 14, I know she hears that word all the time at school or whatever (I hope she's not using it). Well, it's something I can laugh at now, but I personally wouldn't wear a shirt with a vulgarity even if I agree with the sentiment, heh.

It's like that TV show where you 'Phone a Friend' and they have 60 seconds to help you with an answer...but in this case, it's 'Text a Friend'...and I try (and do) answer you with a place that fits your request for food... Except sometimes I don't remember its name, or the street names and have to look it up. ANYHOW Bugsy's has good stuff...and opinions...and yeah, that's East County.

I always appreciate all of your tips/advice on places to go. :)

I wonder why places still get left in the Entertainment Book... can't they call and tell them to remove it from next year's publication? I wonder how that all works. Maybe the EB doesn't give a crap. Hah!

No shit. Sometimes it is embarassing to break out with the coupon then they tell you they don't accept it anymore. I admit I am afraid to call places ahead because they could always say no on the phone, but then it would save me a trip, haha.
