Miguel's Cocina

A few weeks ago, I went out with a few GF's from the gym..

My friend wanted to have her belated bday gathering here at Miguel's...

which was crazy busy on a Friday night. I might sound like a fuddy duddy, but I rarely ever go out on week nights, save for Friday. We are homebodies for the most part. But yeah, it was rare that I was out with my workout GF's. Now Miguel's is a place I haven't been to in years. There was a lady in the front making fresh tortillas...

We waited about 20 minutes to get a seat. That empty table was reserved for a large party that hadn't arrived yet...

Miguel's is known for it's cheesy white sauce (it has a kick to it), served with chips as well as red salsa.

You can see their menu online here.

I ended up getting the Barb's Caesar salad...

We ordered a margarita pitcher to share between the five of us...

Our entrees below. Haha, you can see the waiter giving a thumbs up....

My friend's chicken fajitas...

which came with a side of rice, beans, and guacamole..Looked so good.

My salad which had grilled shrimp, cheesy bread and carnitas, which I asked to be 'on the side'.

And there they are.  I kind of thought it odd that carnitas would be a salad ingredient, but wanted to try it anyways. The leftovers were enjoyed by Bert the next morning.

Almondigas (meatball) soup from one of the other girls...

The birthday girl's carne asada plate with a Mexican beer...

It had been awhile since I've had any sort of alcoholic beverage so I made sure to pace myself and not overdo it. Over the years, I've morphed into a lightweight when it comes to drinking, not that I was a big old alky to begin with, heh.

My salad had too much dressing for my tastes. I basically wanted the shrimp and avocado! Those chips were my downfall and I would be working it off the next day at the gym and seeing the same ladies! Service was great and so was the company.

It was nice to see each other in non-workout clothes and not all sweaty and gross too! Our next event will be a baby shower for our friend's daughter...and a few birthdays coming up as well!

Jake took me here once just to try the cheesy dip! I really liked it, though we haven't been back since. It's kind of far for us to hike down there unless we're getting the kids. But now I kind of want it again...

We've only been to the Miguel's in Point Loma...and it's been years. I passed this location just the other day, but was on my way to other places. That whole area is nice.

I didn't even know about the other locations. I like that Target shopping area but the one up the street (Eastlake Village Walk) has Trader Joe's and Sprouts and a few other restaurants that we like.

Oh, yes, the Shelter Island location was always our go to location. Then they started selling the cheese dip at Henry's, (but have since stopped)and apparently we just stopped going to the restaurant. (We've gone to the Hector's Marisco's in that area only).
