Candy candy candy...I can't let you go

And now a little ditty from the late Isaac Hayes (aka "Chef" from "South Park", "Shaft", "Truck Turner"):

"Stick them in your mouth and suck 'em!"

I think I'll have to make some of them chocolate salty ballz one day! And speaking of chocolate, one week later....

the bars that we made last week at the "Build-a-Bar" workshop at the new Eclipse's grand opening...

Time to strip these babies nekkid and see what lurksbeneath...

In this case, a rather misshapen and fugly looking bar!

All right, this one was mine. We made three mini's at the workshop. I'm thinking that bars that look like this won't pass muster at Eclipse, but they're good enough for me, I say! I don't remember exactly what I put in mine, but I know that coconut, dried blueberries, pretzel pieces, and malted milk crunch is in there.

Here's a whole mini upside down...

Air bubbles...

One of the cross sections.

I really liked how my bars turned out. There was a little bit of everything in every bite. The coconut added a nice and sweet crunch. I didn't put any of those flavored gourmet salts because I fkg forgot! If anything, the salt should have been added to the bottom of the plastic mold before I added the chocolate.

Bert was a little too heavy handed with one of the flavored salts and his bar segment had me gulping water after a few bites. He was a bit disappointed with that. TC's bars came out quite well; she included dried strawberries, pretzels, coconut, walnuts to name a few ingredients. No salt for her.

This was a pretty fun activity and really made us appreciate all the hard work that goes into making candy. The workers were tempering the couverture chocolate with their newfangled melting machines. We originally wanted dark chocolate but they were having problems with the consistency so we went with milk so we wouldn't have to leave and come back. It must be fun for the owner and his staff to think of new flavors. He used to have a mango masala bar but that was retired last year. His anniversary bar last fall was strawberry balsamic (never did get to try that).

Looking forward to going to Eclipse again, but for brunch...
