It's a really cute small town...
The island itself is the largest island within a freshwater lake in North America (Lake Huron to be exact).

Kagawong means "where the mists rise from the falling waters" in the Ojibwe language.
Below, a plaque commemorating the site of the old Kagawong Mill..

The mill used to process pulp which was used to make Sears Roebuck catalogues.

This was the Post Office Museum, built in 1890. It was closed when we stopped by but you may see the exhibits with this link. It is now a pioneer museum but served as a general store and post office in it's heyday.

Some of the equipment used at the Mill. The town was created as a result of the logging business. As a result, the town needed sawmills and a pulp mill.

Wished this place was open when we went. The building now houses an art gallery, a museum dedicated to the history of the town, and a gift shop.

Just like the food truck scene in Southern California and food carts in Portland, there are a lot of little "food shacks" scatttered around the island. C wanted to take us to one owned by a friend, so off we went...
