but I'm too lazy to make this chronological...
To recap, National Coffee Day was yesterday. Bert and I went to three different spots before ending at a casual coffee shop located into a comic book store. Our first stop was Public Square Coffee House in La Mesa. Bert had his mocha here (with Oatly) while I had the VERY LAST blackberry lavender latte. They had enough syrup for just one more drink. The guy even erased it on the board so no one else would order it and be disappointed, ha ha.

This is one of the most beautiful and best tasting drinks I've had this year.

Bert really likes the chocolate that they use in their mocha. It makes a difference when you use good quality.

Our butter flight with a couple of their scones. I don't remember all of the flavors but one of them was the ubiquitous pumpkin spice (which Bert enjoyed). My favorite butters were the blueberry and guave flavors.

Stop number two was not too far away...which was the new outpost of Dark Horse Coffee.

I kept mine simple with a traditional macchiato; Bert had their maple salted latte with almond milk. Enjoyed outdoors in the morning sun...

Appropriate Coffee Day gear as well...Bert's shirt had "HOB COFFEE" on the front written in a Star Wars font.

Third and last stop was Altered Ego (this is the condensed version). We really liked how hidden this was and the added bonus was that it was in one of the best comic stores in San Diego.

Sorry if this is redundant but here it is again, Bert's caramel latte (top) and my iced mocha with hazelnut. Both drinks were nice enough but not the quality you'd get from a Third Wave shop.

Still, nice folks working here! Points for creativity with their drink menu and of course for the cool location.
Lunch was at nearby Pho Duyen Mai in Kearny Mesa.

Bert had noodles with shrimp and vegetables while I tried their version of banh xeo.

Nice and crisp through and through.

Filling ratio could have been more but I still enjoyed their version. I still like Pho Hiep Chateau's the best.

Man, it had been awhile since were last here. We had a fun coffee crawl this year...our first on a day celebrating coffee. But I think that National Coffee Day should be everyday (or at least every weekend, ha ha).
