Return to Tip Top Meats

It was Labor Day weekend.

and time for a revisit to Tip Top with Bert...

We left pretty damn early yesterday morning so we could get there a little after 7 am (they open at 6 am, but even that is too early for me).

Before I get to our breakfast, this first. Yes, I am easily amused.

I also bought that awesome hazelnut roll for later (it lasted about a week; we wanted to savor it).

It was my turn to get the Big John this time and no I did not do double bacon as was recommended by Superman. I started off withthe Polish sausage and bacon. Bert got what I had last time, the two egg breakfast; his meat of choice was ham. He also helped me finish some of my meatz.

Rye bread for him, sourdough for me. Over easy eggs for him, scrambled for me.

That sausage was pretty substantial. Had a great smoked flavor. The bacon was also pretty good. Maybe I should have gotten the double bacon after all.

My second plate of meat was the breakfast sausage with the ham (I liked Bert's so much, I got one for myself, ha ha).

I ended up taking most of that meat home since it was quite a bit and still early in the morning.  I had enough to satisfy my craving.

Since we are hardly ever up in this area, our plan was to hit up a few places in Carlsbad and Oceanside, but first, a quick gander at the old windmill building.

This used to be a Pea Soup Stuart Andersons then TGIF's (which I don't remember). It is going to be a new hipster food hall. According to older articles I read online, it was supposed to open this summer. Well, summer is nearly done and it's not open yet. I am thinking late fall or by the holidays.

You can see the windmill from the 5 freeway.

Coffee would be next. Instead of getting back on the freeway, we took the coast highway which parallels the Pacific Ocean because scenic route...
