Today happened to be as, what the teens would call it, "Windy af" (yes, click on those letters to be enlightened)...
Braving the winds, we walked a few blocks over to a coffee place recommended by the owner of Duet Coffee in San Diego.

Hmmm, this inlaid design says books on the sidewalk, but this was near the coffee shop. Harkening back to its original purpose I suppose.
We ended up going back to the hotel so we could drive to a touristy spot . We were originally going to walk there but TC and I were not thrilled about walking. Seriously the wind was terrible and although it was sunny, it was chilly and there was dust and pollen and all other kinds of crap floating in the air.
I guess you could say that the area known as "Old Sacramento" is kind of like Sacramento's version of San Diego's "Old Town". Same idea. Nineteenth century buildings. The first school house, western style saloons and shops galore.

This was a cool view of the Tower Bridge with "Eat at Joe's" in the middle!

It was a good thing we were there in the early hours. We still had another place to visit...a place I read about on the California Through My Lens site...
If you like quirky museums, this one definitely fits the bill and most imporantly, it is FREE!

And those are just a few of the many interesting sights you will see at the Sierra Sacramento Valley Museum of Medical History.
Lunch was here...just around the corner from our hotel. Convenient.

Very old school.
Dessert was here at this Sacramento chain. There is a Berkeley location which TC saw a few days earlier but we didn't have the opportunity to go there so when she saw it was here, well...

How can anyone resist a vampire penguin?
Bert's one request was to return here so he could take some photos of the Capitol Building, which unfortunately was already closed by the time we got there.

This was my photo though. His were nice and devoid of graffitid and stickered traffic signs.
I wished we had more time to explore Sacramento and the neighboring counties. I was even told that we should go to Tahoe instead (since it's "only" two hours away). I'm not a fan of being cold, but maybe one day. In any case, those trips will have to be saved for a future date. It was time to get back home, with the benefit of having TC drive a leg or two on the way down!
