Sandwiches from Santos Coffee House, Subterranean, Corner Bakery Cafe and Caffe Italia

It's been awhile...

Bert and I had time to kill while TC was volunteering...

plus, I had a buy one get one coupon, so score.   We got a breakfast sandwich for us to share (steamed egg and sausage patty) and a vegetarian sandwich for TC.  I didn't like the texture of the egg. Actually looking at it now, it is just the egg white. It was bland and too..."soft" for my liking.

TC appreciated the vegetarian sandwich when we picked her up later that morning.  As we waited for our sandwiches, we admired this man's dog, a Dutch German shepherd, a breed known for its brindle coat. The dog was so cute and kept begging for a dog biscuit.

Another separate excursion into North Park brought us back to Subterranean (they have a newer location in Hillcrest but since parking sucks there, I don't even bother)...also, coupon.

One was the Bukowski (honey ham and Swiss) and the Italian Stallion (selection of deli meats plus mozzarella cheese). The Italian was pretty salty. The bread was toasted at least and filled with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The drink was some sort of pineapple smoothie that TC liked.

Bert took this photo in their bathroom which features 1984-Purple Rain era Prince on his motorcycle. The walls are now purple as well.

During the Thanksgiving break, I utilized another buy one get one free coupon, this time from Corner Bakery Cafe. This is a place I never go to unless I have a coupon, ha ha.   These were the breakfast paninis - egg, bacon and cheese for me and tuna for TC.

The portion was just right. I also liked that the egg was not just the egg white like at Santos Coffee House. I do like healthy food, mind you, but I'm not that much of a health nut that I eat egg whites exclusively.

Recently, we were in Little Italy for a revisit to the new Lofty Coffee. I also had a coupon for Caffee Italia, located at the bottom of La Pensione Hotel, right near the Little Italy arch.

Looks like they updated their inner courtyard patio with new tables and chairs.

Breakfast paninis - prosciutto, egg and cheese plus blueberries (last year it was an orange slice) and turkey with red pepper pesto. I liked the touch of fresh hers on the edge of TC's sandwich.  The rosemary flecked bread was nicely toasted but still fluffy inside.

A nice light way to start our day. Daylight savings time started the evening before and the day was still young.

I believe I used coupons for all of the previous visits. Thank you Entertainment Value book. Seriously, it pays for itself. I still have more that I've categorized geographically and plan to hopefully use the majority of those before the end of 2017.
