Daylight Savings time was the other day and we were crazy enough to head over to Little Italy the next morning...

Some coffee was in order here...
I snagged a table on the sidewalk while Bert ordered our drinks and their macadamia nut and peach croissant (yes, again).

Our morning coffee and snack (breakfast would be after this) - Aztec Mocha, watermelon juice, aforementioned croissant and a macchiato.

We liked it so much the first time, we had to have it again. Our waiter suggested the cinnamon roll next time since they only make it on weekends.

Bert's Aztec mocha with almond milk (a pricy addition) - flavored with cinnamon and cayenne pepper. The mocha was rich and smooth as well as spicy.

TV's refreshing watermelon juice in a jar. I still think any fruteria is just as good or even better.

My macchiato, served in a cute curved handle-less cup.

The macchiato was pretty bold but thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful morning. All of us savored our drinks and the croissant teaser. We would later walk to a nearby cafe for some breakfast sandwiches.
As we left, we passed by Our Lady of the Rosary Churcg, the morning fog was already burned off.

Earlier that same morning, while on foot...

We got lucky with parking that morning. The added plus was that Daylight Savings Time may have thrown off those not-so-early-morning-risers. Parking was free since it was a Sunday.
As for the banners featuring notable Italian Americans, the first photo in this post featured Giorgio Moroder. I knew he was a composer during the disco era. I didn't realize he was quite influetial in the field of electronic music in the early 70's
He composed "The Chase", the theme from the movie "Midnight Express" which I confess I know nothing about (here is more info):
"Call Me" by Blondie from the movie, "American Gigolo" (which featured a very young and handsome Richard Gere)
He also won the Oscar for best song, "Flashdance (What a Feeling)". Accepting the award on his behalf is the beautiful Irena Cara, who sang the title song.
He even inspired a song by Daft Punk, "Giorgio by Moroder" - This is basically an interview layered over an instrumental.
He had his heyday during the "disco years", especially his collabs with Donna Summer. Her song "I Feel Love" is one of the more well known songs:
All this from seeing the banner, but hey, I was curious to know more about this guy. Can you believe they even have a banner for Matt LeBlanc (aka "Joey" from "Friends")? I can understand Robert DeNiro, Frank Sinatra and Joe Pesci but Joey?
"How you doin'.....", ha ha.

Little Italy is changing more and more with each passing day. We saw so much construction during our short visit this morning. Of course, it's going to cost a pretty penny to live there too but those new homeowners will at least have a plethora of choices for food, drink and entertainment.
