First up was coffee at one of our favorite roasters...

Good ole Cafe Moto...
It's good they have their own parking lot since parking can be pretty scarce here.

They always have the prettiest flower arrangements at Cafe Moto.
Bert's Espresso Mocha with soy and my Cubano Cortado.

When I first saw their photo of the Cubano Cortado on IG, it was a top shot like this. I didn't realize that the actual drink would be much bigger than I thought it would be.

The Cubano Cortado is espresso mixed with 1 oz of condensed milk and then more milk is added on top (latte art in this case).

Bert's drink was pretty rich tasting. Mine was very very milky. More milky than I kind of liked. I had to put in this cup since I was not able to finish it, unlike the much much smaller cortado or macchiato.

This back patio is quite cool. The door leads to their coffee supply store in the back.

The morning was still young. We needed something to enjoy with our coffees and that something were some toroid delights.

The night before I saw on Nomad's IG that they had a new flavor, the Green Apple Mango Jam filled donut topped wth calamansi mango glaze. Yes. CALAMANSI BABY.

This is what happens when the pastry chef is Filipino. In Nomad's case, it's through the creativity of Filipina American chef Kristianna Zabala. Her first step to canonization was coming up with her ever popular Taro Ube Coconut donut. As soon as I saw "ube" in the flavor description, I knew right away she was Pinay. I was waiting for the day she would finally incorporate calamansi as a donut flavor.

Our donut quad - the aforementioned donut with Filipino-inspired flavors, caramelized banana chocolate cake, green tea black sesame (TC's choice) and lastly, the Asian pear orange whisky.

All tasted awesome but my favorite was the jam filled donut followed by the caramelized banana chocolate cake.

The donut shoot at home...

Green apple manjo jam with mango calamansi glaze:

The calamansi flavor was there but since it was mixed with mango, it was on the sweeter side since calamansi by itself would have made it more tart. The filling was pretty good too and that's saying a lot since I am not a fan of eating green apples. I think the pairing with mango jam is what made this donut flavor work for me.
About the Cubano Cortado, here's a short video on how to make this drink:
On a funnier note, here is one of of the photos that showed up when I googled 'Cubano cortado':
I was puzzled why this dude showed up. I forwarded to my friend "One" and he thought it was hilarious. His response, "Well, what did you expect when you googled "ripped cuban"?" . I had to ask him to clarify. I turns out that 'cortado' in Spanish means, "cut up" (cortado is the past participle of the verb "cortar") as in "ripped" or "cut" like abs/muscles. In coffee drink terms, it means that the espresso is "cut" with milk. New wrinkle on cortex alert.

Next stop, another revisit at a sandwich place where we ironically would NOT order any sandwiches...

Ohhh, if I ever spy that calamansi donut in the future I'll get one for my mom. She loves calamansi! HAHA I remember that Cuban dude - good thing your friend explained it to you!! Makes more sense!
Mary, They have been making a lot of fun flavors lately. Thank goodness the pastry chef is a Filipina and is down for those flavors!
