Doing his research the night before and deciding on a nearby eatery so we wouldn't have to drive too far...

Nestled in Verdugo Plaza near a water store and coin laundry was our welcomed lunch spot...
The scent of laundry detergent filled the air as we headed to Lemon Poppy Kitchen.

Ha, they served coffee from Intelligentsia here. No more coffee for me, thank you.

I got the breakfast special on the board (pictured above) while TC got the Grilled Cheese Sandwich (she was, at the time, two months into her 'vegetarian' phase) while Bert got the Mediterranean chicken sandwich.

In retrospect, I should have tried the Plachinta because it was Romanian and I hadn't tried Romanian food before. Dagnabbit. Next time.
There were many bearded dudes here. And succulent plants on the walls.

We ended up getting a slice of the roasted strawerry apple/corn cake for dessert.

Citrus medley soda and iced coffee (for Bert):

Bert's Mediterranean Chicken sandwich:

It was pretty filling and most importantly, delicious. The flavors were so bright and fresh.
My Pancetta Scramble which was also quite filling. I liked that they included a salad with the scramble, along with breaf slices.

TC's Grilled Cheese Sandwich;

This was a fancy version since it had roasted vegetables inside which she probably would have preferred without.
This was the dessert I saw earlier, an apple/corn cake with roasted strawberries:

It had an interesting texture from the corn meal. The roasted strawberries within were quite nice.

We came during right before the lunch rush. The line ended up being out the door for a short time. There were many folks who came to pick up their orders as well. This was a pretty happening place but you wouldn't think so looking at the strip mall since it didn't seem a likely place to have an eatery.

Before heading down south, we wanted to check out an iconic building with a "musical past"...
