as TC and I noted this quiet Wednesday morning...
The breakfast special's new price:

compared to last year (on the left):

(photo from my "Manna Restaurant" post, May 2015)
Their Senior special also went up $1.00
I'm assuming the prices reflect the raising of minimum wage...In any case, Manna's breakfast special beats any that I've seen out there (most are $5 and up...way up). A quick comparisons of their menu prices (from old pix versus today) also show increases of .50 up to $1 on many of their menu items. Their Chinese combo plates also went up $1 (the wonton soup combo with egg still remains at $5.99).
This sign of the "teriyaki trio" never fails to amuse me. They are all literally the same looking.

As old habits die hard...I got what I normally get here. Sourdough, scrambled (maybe I'll live a little and get my eggs over hard next time), hash browns and yes...Chicken Fried Steak.

TC was happy to finally their their (Americanized) Chinese food (served after 10 am on weekdays; we went on a weekend the first time and didn't know it wasn't offered). She got the Combo A (rice, chowmein and 2 choices).

She got orange chicken (the non spicy) and the Imperial veggi (their spelling). TC wasn't that thrilled with their heavy handed use of celery, opting to eat only the onions, carrots and a few lone broccoli pieces. It was quite a lot of food for the both of us and leftovers were taken home. Note that her food was served in a styrofoam container even though we were eating in. Manna regular Cathy of mmm-yoso noted that she's had her food served that way as well and suggested in the future, if we wanted to eat it on a plate, to request it first. The box turned out to be just fine since we would have boxed any leftovers anyways.

TC enjoyed watching the Brisbane International women's tennis match on their tv screens. Those tennis players sure have nice arms!
The waitress was super nice, as they all are over here. The owner was also there ( a friendly man who greets everyone as they walk in).
Here is Cathy's roundup of her past visits with her Mister:
"Manna Restaurant (Chula Vista) Pancake House/Chinese Fast Food)" October 3, 2015
She noted that Manna is across the street from Cali Baguette in Chula Vista just like the Manna Korean AYCE restaurant on Convoy is across from Cali Baguette in Kearny Mesa. Coincidence?

I love reading about this place. How was the breading (on chicken fried steak) and gravy that day? The gravy looks really good.
Hi Faye,
Happy new year! The breading was good. Not too thin or overly thick but just right. I wish the gravy had more "bits" in it. I liked the gravy on the CFS at Perry's better. The worst gravy was Rudfords which was pasty.
There are a few double named unrelated restaurants out there, the most recent was kirks post of Village Kitchen (Hunan) which is way different than The Village Kitchen, a diner in OB, just across from Azucar. I'm silently amused when noticing odd things like that. Manna is just a nice little local place, which I seek out. The businesses in that area are not destinations for the people who live there; they are so lucky to have them.
Very observant you are Cathy. Manna's CFS is one of my favorites.
