past Manila Mesa and on towards the Carmel Mountain Ranch Area. For a South Bay chick like me, this is like going to the moon (just kidding).

In an industrial business complex is a coffee company I'd always wanted to visit. Today was that very fortunate day...
with good friend D as my companion. We were ready even more coffee this late morning! Mostra Coffee had always held my interest, especially knowing it was a Filipino owned and run company. As a second generation Filipina American, this is very important to me. The young folks who work here were so very friendly and welcoming and it was a pleasure finally meeting most of them the day of our visit.

So many good choices...

which were made easier by having these samples - the "Mo"-Chata" coffee/horchata), Coconut cold brew and their standard cold brew. All were excellent. D wanted the Mochata as well as the Creme Brulee cappuccino (after seeing roastmaster/co-owner Mike seriously torch someone's drink).

There's not much seating except for a larger table in the back by their door (with a view of the dumpsters). Most people we noticed got their drinks to go.

The view as I walked towards the table in the back...

This was my Mostra-Tonic, espreso with Fever Tree premium tonic water:

I loved this drink! It had a smooth flavor with an effervescent feel. It was on the strong side and I chose to drink it as it was so I could enjoy the strong flavor without additional sugar or milk. I would get this again.

As D and I were sharing our drinks, Sam, RJ and another friend of theirs came over to the table. They broke open a craft beer bottle and toasted each other. I was offered a sip of the beer which I later found out was a limited edition collab (only 600 bottles made; $250 a bottle, whoa). Master Blaster by the J. Wakefield Brewing company was an Imperial porter flavored with coffee, Philippine coconut and vanilla beans from Mostra. According to RJ, this beer is very hard to find. It was quite nice of them to offer me a taste of this beer which I know my husband would have really enjoyed as well.

I think my sip would have cost $10, ha ha. Seriously, it was great from the few sips I had. Cross that off my list.
On their wall in their foyer...their cold brew variations. Unfortunately, Haggens which is now defunct carried them. I didn't know about that until afterwards researching articles for this post. I did see the cold brew at the Eastlake Sprouts about a year ago but passed on it because it was on the pricier side. I'll have to splurge next time I come up here. It's worth it for me to support this Filipino American owned company. They have a great presence, treat their customers well, offer unique drinks and produce a quality product.

Here is an older photo of the first appearance of Mostra on my blog, from our very first visit to Blush in Kearny Mesa in early 2014. Their cold bew bottle can be seen on their counter...

(photo from my "Blush Desserts" post, April 2014)
It seems that every time we visited Blush, I always had their cold brew!
Here's a video featuring Jelynn, one of the five co-owners with the owner of AleSmith talking about their collab:
Mostra is only open on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A return visit on a weekend is definitely in order!

I can't believe we had three drinks here! Our last stop before going home was a bakery only a few minutes away...
