Before heading home, we got a quick bite over at Pizza Studio...
which is next to Sushi Deli and the historic Spreckels Theater. Bert and TC hadn't tried this place yet. And as tempting as "Moroccan Pizza" might have sounded, we weren't feeling it for that today.

We chose a standard pizza (TC would have to pick off the pepperoni pieces) with rosemary crust (Bert's choice). Only $7.99. I keep wondering when the bubble will burst for these customizable pizza joints.

I don't remember everything we got on here but it was pretty standard.

Looks like the worker didn't evenly distribute the pepperoni.

Bert and TC thought it was just okay. I mean, it is what it is for $7.99.
Unlike my first time here with Kirbie, this was NOT during a weekday lunch hour. Hence, no crowds. It was nice to be able to sit and talk to each other without having to raise our voices...

The view of the Spreckel's marble lobby from our table...

Another customized pizza place is closer to us in Chula Vista. I wanted to make it a two-fer, using our Buy 1 Get 1 coupon from Project Pie and the same type of coupon for shakes at Which Wich net door.
I got the shakes (one chocolate and one pineapple banana) while Bert got the pies. It took forever to get the shakes. I think the worker was new and I was getting antsy. While waiting, I did those online surveys on the receipts so I could get a free cookie for TC.

The pizza that Bert and I shared. You can figure out the ingredients.

TC's meatless Hawaiian.

Plus the free chocolate chip cookie that took forever to get as well. The poor kid working was running back and forth and then he also put this through the oven which is why it looks all melty (which I hate but which Bert and TC loved).

Frak! It felt like ten years getting the shakes and the cookies. Gawd, do I sound like a crab or what! Getting these reminded me of this scene from "Love Actually":
"Lovely..."

I'm not too enamored of any of these places but if I had to choose just one place, it would be Project Pie. The service is kind of spotty at the sandwich shop (a few times we found a sandwich that was missing a key ingredient which was marked clearly on the checklist) and I'm not downtown often enough to want to go to Pizza Studio when there are other choices around.

I tried Pizza Studio in Kearny Mesa before it closed, I was not impressed at all. I had a terrible sandwich once at Wich Wich so I'm not really inclined to go back there either. Project Pie! Man, still haven't tried it. I think I still like Blaze Pizza the best of those pizza joints.
I'll give these places a few more years until the next food trend comes along to replace it.
