It's across the street from this place...

our breakfast destination...
before making the long drive back down to San Diego.

We each ordered a sandwich and a drink...

Hot chocolate for the Teen, mocha for Bert (with a pretty leaf design) and an iced coffee for me (doctored up with sugar and cream before I got wise this year and learned to drink without).

TC's BLT (she loved this) plus a ham and cheese croissant that Bert and I shared.

I was kind of bummed that they didn't have any traditional type breakfasts (egg, sausage, bacon, toast, etc) but this would do for now before we hit the Central Coast for our snack/lunch.

We drove down the 101 and before we knew it...we were passing up towns like Watsonville and Salinas...

where we would make a quick stop at a local fast food joint.
Java Beach Cafe was laid back as most beach places are. There was a mix of locals and out of towners (like us). The breakfast was decent but nothing special like the now defunct John's Ocean Beach Cafe. I SO wanted that banana nut pancake again. I was so disappointed that it closed. We were hoping to go there again for our recent anniversary road trip. Alas, the WHOLE block was razed for development.
