Project Pie, Eastlake

About a month ago, the second Project Pie opened in Chula Vista...

East Chula Vista that is...

I was here recently with a few friends with a coupon burning a hole in my pocket...

This is much closer than the location at the CV Mall, and oh...what is that next to it (that post is forthcoming)...

La Ley and another friend chose to get "pre-made" pies while Mr. TJ and I chose to customize ours.

A few minutes after we arrived, they got slammed with customers...

Same set up and toppings, etc as their other locations in Hillcrest and CV.

Mr. TJ's - red sauce, mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, artichoke hearts and basil. There was probably some other stuff on it, but I honestly don't remember.

Our friend got the #5 - a white pizza with basil, mozzarella, Gorgonzola, parmesan cheese, olive oil, salt and pepper.

La Ley's #7 - another white pie with mozz, parm, basil and prosciutto.

My custom pie - red sauce with mozzarella cheese, c hopped garlic, mushrooms, olives, sausage, bacon, prosciutto and yes, my favorite, the candied walnuts.  I love the texture the walnuts provide.

We all enjoyed our pies very much and took home our leftovers (which made TC very happy)...

This place is already a favorite with the folks out here in Eastlake, Otay Ranch and Rancho del Rey. It's in a busy shopping center and is just down the hill from a local high school so foot traffic will be pretty constant. This past Mother's Day, all of the Project Pie locations were offering free pizza to the moms. Alas, I didn't partake since we went out for Vietnamese for lunch (much better than pizza) and Chinese for dinner.

Previous visits to Project Pie's other locations:
Hillcrest - April 2013
(west) Chula Vista - November 2013

Now about that place next door...

Seriously, there are at least ten iterations of this type of restaurant. It is the new FroYo and there must be a ton of profit involved. I feel the need to try each one and then am afraid to try each one...almost overwhelming.

hi cathy - there are way too many of these now. it was a novelty last year when the 1st project pie opened in hillcrest. now there's a slew of other similar restaurants. i wonder how long these will last before the customized pizza bubble breaks.

We tried to go to the one at CV Mall but it was crowded... no seating left and already a bunch of people in line. Too bad. Someday I'll get around to trying this, walnuts on pizza sounds good to me, too.
