As seen in Little Italy

After seeing those poor cats get chased down by children from hell, we left the Cat Cafe to headover to Little Italy...

Using our trusty passes. You tap your prepaid card on the sensor thing before boarding. We found that it helps to do it way ahead of time instead of right before you board.

This was at the stop near the Convention Center.

We would be Little Italy bound...

Incidentally, TC and I were here exactly last year but with my sis and her two boys. We'd gone here for gelato at Pappalecco and dessert at Cafe Zucchero...

I really dug that this banner had Quentin Tarantino. I mean they had your typical Italian American stars like Frank Sinatra, Joe Pesci, Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro. I liked that Quentin Tarantino was a bit more contemporary. They even had Giada de Laurentis somewhere on India St.

Here he is in this classic clip from "Pulp Fiction" which was released in 1994...twenty one years ago. I feel old.

OMFG, so hilarious and unPC!

Our next destination was a coffee place on the northern end of India Street, kind of away from the hustle and bustle. As we got closer, I saw this cool advert on a brick wall...Ben-Hur Coffee

plus another banner, this time featuring Joey Tribbiani, I mean Matt LeBlanc (that doesn't sound like an Italian last name to me) of "Friends" fame.

Really, he got a banner?

"How you doin'?"

A cool mural we passed by celebrating the fishing industry/heritage in Little Italy...

Plus the Venus de Milo! This mural is called "Eredita Italiana" by Yakov Kandinov (2004) for the Precious cheese mural project.

A nearby vintage store. I liked that the door had a mail slot...

Further down the coffee place was this building with a rotating arrow sign. I believe this used to be the Airport Lounge and it used to be a robin's egg blue building. A long time ago, Superman had some of his paintings on display here for the Little Italy Artwalk (this was before TC was born). Now it is a Mexican bar/lounge/karaoke place called El Camino. What attracted my attention were the murals on the side and the pink half moon above the door, as you will soon see.

You see it? Yes...

The Virgin of Guadalupe...

The east side of the place had a wall with lovely vintage images of Mexican adelitas (female revolutionaries), dancers, and maidens, and so forth...

The south side of the lounge had this design on the wood...

And here are those two mixed media murals. The first one is of Mexican movie star Maria Felix (according to La Ley); the man I'm not sure who he is...but both images sure look awesome!

It was time to stop gawking at the art and time to enjoy some coffee across the street...
