This was a local church's fish fry that we wanted to try...
It was onl $7 fo a full meal. As we stood in line with our trays, women from the church group handed us rolls, spooned coleslaw and offered us a choice of either fries or a baked potato while we waited for the fish to be fried fresh. Bert was watching the folks in the kitchen hand dip the meaty fish fillets into the batter and fry up several pieces at a time. Yes, this was made fresh to order. Drinks were either coffee, water or punch. Desserts were a choice of brownie, lemon and strawberry cake. Condiments included malt vinegar (pass on that one), tartar sauce, mayo and ketchup.

The best part of this was that lightly battered crisp fish fillet. They were pretty generous with the portions.
I didn't care for my dessert. It was from a box but I was attracted by the cute sprinkles, darn it.. Of course, I knew not to expect gourmet quality, but overall, this was a decent meal for a decent price.
The church folks were pretty happy to see lots of people in the hall. As we left, another crowd of parishioners walked in since the last mass had just ended.
Second best thing besides the fish itself? Not having to cook or clean anything!
