Silly Love Songs - Valentines Playlist 2015

Happy Valentine's Day....

Like last year, I put together a playlist, once again  using songs with the word "Love" in the title...

Of course, I had to start off my compilation with my favorite Paul McCartney song of all time, "Silly Love Songs" (my 2nd favorite is "Live and Let Die")...

This was one of my favorite songs while growing up. Mr. and Mrs. Taquito also used this song in their wedding video (they were married the same year as us)...

Gotta have a classic girl group and who else but the Ronettes:

and just for fun, the version by the Ramones:

Richard Butler has such a thick accent..."Love My Wy!!!!" (not way!)::

One of their lesser known songs, "Popcorn Love". See a very young Bobby Brown in here! And hear Ralph Tresvant before his voice changed. Love their outfits and their synchronized dance moves...

From their first and best album, "Outta Love Again" by Van Halen:

I still love you Eddie Van Halen.

For TC's benefit, I added one of her favorite songs by Baltimore based pop-punk band, All Time Low. "A Love like War" features Vic Fuentes, the lead singer of local band Pierce the Veil (they hail from Mission Bay):

I thought the video was pretty funny, especially when Vic and the other lead singer were reaching for popcorn and their hands touched.

Holy 1986! Big hair, shoulder pads and loads of costume jewelry! "A Love Bizarre" by Sheila E. (a musician in her own right, but at the time closely associated with Prince):

Also for TC, I added "This Love" by Maroon 5. The dude can sing!  KD loves Adam's voice, especially when he does falsetto...

This is the Rutles (a Beatles parody band which featured Monty Python's Eric Idle as Dirk McQuickly, or the pseudo- Paul McCartney character) doing "Love Life" , which is a spoof of "All You Need is Love". They got it down to the tee, including the costumes, signs and an out of tune Ron Nasty (aka the John Lennon character) droning, "Hold My  Hand yeah yeah" at the end (in "All You Need is Love", John Lennon is singing, "She Loves You, yeah, yeah)...

Hilarious!

Although this song has no words, I had to include the classic "Love's Theme - Barry White and the Love Unlimited Orchestra:

It was either "Muskrat Love" or this song by Captain and Tennille. I deep-sixed the first choice, heh heh.

Ironically, they recently divorced.

One of my favorite ballads by Led Zeppelin, sadly written by Robert Plant in honor of his son Karac, who died while they were on tour in 1977.

I wish Freddie Mercury of Queen were still alive. He was one of the greatest rock vocalists ever. "Love of My Life" from their landmark album, "A Night at the Opera (released 1975 and also contains the hits "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "You're My Best Friend, one of my personal favorites):

Damn, Brian May STILL has a huge head of hair. Grey now though but still.

So cute, "Baby Love Child" by Japanese retro-pop group Pizzicato Five:

OMG, this video should win an OSCAR for cheesiness! This is "Don't Love Me" (No Me Ames) by Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony (released n 1999). They were both married to other people at the time; he later because her husband, then she dumped him for that 24 year old dancer. Anyhow, this video is a total tearjerker!!!! He's trying to convince her that she should move on since he's sick but she's loyal to him and stays with him until the bitter end.

I'm totally going back to the 70's with this one, "Love is the Answer" by England Dan and John Ford Coley...

Pointy collars rule!

Yes....Depeche Mode is a must have...

Here is Irish singer Luka Bloom's cover of LL Cool J's, "I Need Love":

One of my favorite songs by the Pretenders, one of the first female led rock bands that caught my eye...helmed by Ohio-born Chrissie Hynde.

She quotes Oscar Wilde (slightly reworked) with the lines:
"We are all of us in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars..."

Whenever I have an 80's compilation, I always include "Space Age Love Song" by Flock of Seagulls:

It took me awhile, but yeah, I used to like the Outfield a lot back in the 80's but didn't really admit it. They were too "soft" and I had an image to uphold, haha.

Dude, mullets! Tight jeans! The earring in the left ear!

One of Eddie Money's best songs, "Think I'm in Love":

Lastly, Sammy Hagar's, "Your Love is Driving Me Crazy":

It's a pretty catchy pop-rock song; it almost sounds Rick Springfield'esque.

Previous Valentine's playlists:
"Love Removal Machine - Valentine's playlist" 2014
and 2013's playlist which used the word "heart" in the title:
"The Last Beat of my Heart playlist"

I tried so hard to find words with "love" i the title, but came up empty from the groups Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica. In all seriousness, I do like all of these songs and tried to put a lot of different genres and eras in here...except country and rap.
