This time in the East Village right along G and Park and the SD Trolley Line...

We were sufficiently wired from our coffees from the excellent Bean Bar and headed north on Park...
The mural is in a parking lot across from an art school and the trolley line. The gate to the lot was open and luckily, no cars were obscuring the mural. The weather that particular morning was cloudy and overcast but not dark and dreary. In fact, I thought the conditions were perfect because the lighting was rather even and there were no harsh shadows to muck up the beauty of this amazing mural...I'll let the photos speak for themselves. In researching for this post, I found that the mural is the collaboration between three local artists, James Persue (Bunny Kitty), Gloria Muriel (Glow) and Michael Amorillo (Montrinho). It was painted in 2011 (I've been passing it by all these years without really "looking" until recently) on the south side of the hArt Lounge (a hookah and coffee bar with rather dismal yelp reviews).

A few last glances...

Yes, that's my leftover cold brew...You can see the altered stop sign which reads, "hART". Every ten minutes, the trolley would roll by.
A cool video of the making of this mural featuring the artists (ignore the first 50 seconds of the kid talking):
I loved seeing the progression of the blank wall, to the outlines, then filling in with the paint/spray paint.

Here is a great but short feature from SD City Beat's "Canvassed" section:

We were in the area earlier today and noticed more cars parked in the lot. We really lucked out that morning and were able to snap a lot of cool photos. My favorite section of the mural is the of the girl who I feel looks like a waterm nymph The eye popping colors of this wall really adds some life to this otherwise boring parking lot. It's great to see art like this in unexpected places.
