hosted by one of the gal at the gym...
in honor of our friend's birthday. Bert was kind enough to drive me over so I wouldn't have to worry about driving home after having a drink or two.
The hostess lives over in Salt Creek, which is a community east of the 125 in Chula Vista, towards Mount Miguel. She is of Armenian descent and made a few homemade dishes for us to enjoy, along with crudites, chips, cheese and crackers and mini spanakopitas (storebought). Of course, there was also booze (several types of wine along with Stella, the birthday girl's favorite beer).

Everyone really enjoyed her homemade kufte (sometimes spelled as 'kofte'), which are football shaped meatballs mixed with bulgur wheat, coated with breadcrumbs and fried. These were so delicious! I could have eaten the whole plate but didn't, haha.

These kufte reminded me of the kibbe that Dennis and I had at Michoz last summer.
Another homemade item was this Armenian flatbread with cheese on it. She told me the name of it in Armenian, but I can't, for the life of me, remember what the correct term was.

Just know that it was delicious and again, worthy of scarfing down, I mean, savoring in a leisurely manner. Yeah, that's it.
Dessert were mini bundcakes (called 'bundtinis') from Nothing Bundt cakes. There were assorted flavors like white chocolate raspberry, double chocolate chip, lemon, and something with caramel.

I think everyone's birthday in our group at the gym should have our friend host and cook. It was nice not having to deal with being out at a crowded place. There were only five of us there. We didn't have to worry about anything except to enjoy each others' company and have a good time.

The homemade treats look really good! Having little parties at home or away from crowds is what I prefer to do most of the time.
I like it too. No worries about parking or jerks trying to bother us.
