Macaron ice cream sandwiches

This will be a short and sweet post...

featuring some ice cream macaron sandwiches that my sister gave me...

which were made from a friend of hers. This is the same friend that made that assortment of macarons a few months ago ("Mac Quintet" post).  Those macs were pretty but were hollow inside, which meant she didn't do something correctly.  According to my sis, her friend's macs have gotten better. She'll have to give me some for "research purposes", haha.

So her friend was making these and using my sis and her sons as guineau pigs.  The mac shells had a swirled pattern. Very pretty.  The trio of sandwiches were thin and easy to bite into.

Strawberry:

The mac itself was also strawberry flavored with real strawberry chunks  mixed into the cheese cake ice cream filling.

This one was a bit lopsided. My sis had to keep these in her freezer for a week before she could find the time to drop them off at my house.

The ice cream filling was ube and coconut!!!  The macaron shell itself was a flavor that didn't stand out though.

I really liked how this looks, even though it was kind of like a mutant. I know the colors are artificial, but I really love anything with ube!

This last one was called the "Ice Cream Sundae":

Cherry flavored macs, with a cherry on top and the filling was a mixture of vanilla with nuts, and bits of pineapple in it.

These mac ice cream sandwiches tasted as good as they looked.

Bert's favorite was the Ice Cream Sundae, I liked the Strawberry while TC enjoyed the Ube the best!  I hope my sister's friend makes more of these "for fun"!

Hooray it's Friday!

Whoa, I love the swirly colors in the macarons! Very pretty with the ice cream, too. Macarons are one of those "I dunno if I want to try and make those" kind of things since they seem daunting. Lucky you getting to benefit from trying these out! What a nice, sharing sister :)

Me too! They look very festive and attractive. I am waaaay too lazy to even attempt making macs so yeah. That would be a no for me. I'm still trying to convince TC and her cousin (he's obsessed with them!) to learn how to make them.

Yes, my sis is pretty generous! I like buying her coconut related things. We exchange little food gifts every once in awhile. :)
