Return to Daw Yee Myanmar Cafe

After having had our snacks at 101 Noodle Express, it was time for the "real meal"!

D requested somewhere with rice...

which Daw Yee Myanmar Cafe offered, along with a few other things I wanted my friends to try since this would be their first foray into Burmese cuisine.

I liked my first visit here so a repeat visit was definitely in order...

You can see their menu in all of it's technicolor glory here:

Our tea leaf salad and D's Molasong (a coconut milk drink with pandan, red jelly and tapioca):

The drink reminded me of halo-halo  but without the red beans, jackfruit, corn, and crushed ice. This was pretty refreshing that day.

The rest of our lunch: samosa, tea leaf salad (mixed in this photo),  mohinga, and curry chicken with rice.

I could eat just these and be happy, the Samosa...

Everyone loved the tea leaf salad, as I was hoping they would...

So many flavors and textures...

The rice that D so craved, with chicken curry and potatoes...

I thought that they should also try Burma's national dish, the Mohinga, a catfish chowder with vermicelli noodles. On the rim of the bowl were crushed chilis (we did not partake), cut up herbs and a lemon slice. The soup was garnished with a yellow bean fritter.

I liked the crunchiness so much that I bought a ziploc bag of these fritters, which were sold near a side wall along with other Burmese snacks and ingredients. The label says 'chickpeas' but they must be a very small version of them.

Bert and I enjoyed these chick pea crackers over the next few days.

All of us gals were pretty happy with our shared orders here.

Pasadena was next on the itinerary...

That tea leaf salad has been on my mind for about a year now. It's just pretty. I'd like to try those chickpea crackers...protein and low carbs!
